Karin Miller is a retired geriatric social worker. She spent her forty year career helping seniors and their families locate services in the community. She worked in retirement homes, senior centers, doctors’ offices, hospitals, nursing homes and home care agencies. She was a nursing home administrator, directed a hospital based geriatric program, counseled seniors and their families, trained social work students, facilitated support groups and taught classes about aging. She has served on the board of the Alzheimer’s Association of Puget Sound, the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Foundation Board, and Transforming Age. In retirement, Karin turns her energy to working with children. She believes that education is a key component to life success and proudly helps Communities in Schools work towards its vision of transforming the future of Seattle students by providing an environment for academic success. Karin has two adult daughters, lives in Seattle with her husband and enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, traveling, and gardening in retirement.
