Andrew is a Program Officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation where he works on the K-12 team. His work focuses on using research and data to drive impact nationally in education. His portfolio has included Social Emotional Learning, Education to Career Pathways, Middle School Math, and COVID-19 recovery.
Andrew was born in Richmond, VA and got his start in education after college in Washington, D.C where he worked as a middle school teacher for the Higher Achievement Program. He then served as Director of Programs at Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School where he designed and managed out-of-school-time programming and wrap-around services for over 400 students annually.
He holds a B.A from American University and a Master’s of Public Affairs from the University of Texas. Andrew and his wife, Kate, moved to Seattle in 2017 and have loved exploring their new home. He spends most of his free time trying to keep up with his new daughter, Lizzie.
