New Schools & New Staff
Did you know that your support has enabled Communities In Schools of Seattle to serve students at 4 new schools this school year?
These schools are Chief Sealth High School and Concord, Van Asselt, and Wing Luke Elementaries. Your generosity means that thousands more Seattle students are now receiving one-on-one support from caring site coordinators.
One of these new site coordinators is Kirsten Rinker, who is supporting students and families at Wing Luke Elementary School.
Kirsten is originally from Federal Way, and lived in Asia throughout most of her childhood. She loves the PNW, and attended UBC in Vancouver, BC, where she majored in sociology. After college, Kirsten spent two years in Americorps, then spent a year in Korea teaching English to elementary school students.
Kirsten is looking forward to building new relationships with students at Wing Luke, providing one-on-one support to students with attendance issues, and addressing challenges in the school that were identified in last year’s school climate survey.
In her personal time, Kirsten enjoys yoga, hiking, and playing video games like Fallout 4.
Our First Breakfast
We are happy to invite you to join us for our very first annual breakfast event – the Empower. Achieve. Succeed. Breakfast.
Join us and learn about the young people whose lives we change every day. You’ll also have the chance to meet our staff, and the opportunity to help us surround students with a community of support, and empower them to stay in school and achieve in life.
