AmeriCorps members will serve in elementary, middle and high schools throughout Washington State. Members will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the CIS model of integrated student support and service delivery in designated schools sites. The member will work with community partners and volunteers to marshal resources necessary to address the needs of students who are at risk. Through the coordination of individual and group interventions as well as prevention activities the member is a key player in helping students stay in school and remain on track to graduate.
The Site Coordinator (SC) marshals resources necessary to address the social and emotional needs of students who are at risk of dropping out of school. Through the coordination of individual and group interventions, as well as prevention activities, the SC is a key player in helping students toward graduation. The SC provides confidential, developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive interventions, services and support to students needing additional internal and external resources in order to make a positive connection to school. The SC forms partnerships with the community and other agencies to help provide these resources. The school-based interventions will improve academic achievement and reduce truancy for the students served. Additionally, the SC is a key member of the Diplomas Now project (a national school turn-around model) and, therefore, works closely with representatives from City Year and Talent Development. Responsibilities may change based on the needs of the program.
