Achievements

During the 2015-16 school year we helped approximately 14,800 Seattle students at 38 schools achieve their goals. 5,576 students at 10 schools received whole-school services, and of those students, 495 received intensive case management at Rainier Beach and Chief Sealth HS, Aki Kurose and Denny Middle Schools, Pathfinder K-8, Roxhill, Highland Park, Van Asselt, Concord and Wing Luke Elementary schools, up from 426 for the 2014-2015 school year. They were:
• 81% low-income
• 19% English language learners
• 3% in foster care
• 11% homeless
• 46% African or African American
• 22% Hispanic
• 8% Asian or Pacific Islander
• 10% white
• 3% Native American or Alaska Native
• 9% mixed race

Through individualized support for these 495 students most at-risk of dropping out:
• 95% graduated or were promoted to the next grade;
• 89% improved their academics;
• 77% improved their behavior;
• 86% improved their attendance rates.

We worked closely with 135 community partners across the 10 schools during the 2015-16 school year.

Of all organizations working toward student achievement, only Communities In Schools is proven to decrease dropout rates, boost on-time graduation rates, and increase proficiencies in math and reading.
